Safe Sitter: Tuesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Chilton Health Network, 242 West Parkway, Pompton Plains (just 1.5 miles from the hospital). Call for class location and registration materials. Pre-registration is $70 per student. This class is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

New Moms Group: Fridays, April 13 and 27, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the Chilton Health Network, 242 West Parkway, Pompton Plains (just 1.5 miles from the hospital). Come join new moms and their infants for an informal group. Laugh, learn and share your stories with other new moms. Babies welcomed! This free meeting is held every second and last Friday of each month.

Sibling Preparation Class: Saturday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Chilton Hospital, 97 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, in the Cafeteria Conference Room.  This class helps to ease older brothers and sisters into this new phase of their lives. Pre-registration is $40 for the first sibling; $25 each additional sibling.

Am I A Safe Kid?: Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m., at Wayne YMCA, 1 Pike Drive, Wayne.  Jerisa Chiumbu-Maseko, Director of the New Jersey Coalition for Prevention of Developmental Disabilities/The Arc of New Jersey, leads this workshop for parents with children of any age, on how to easily prevent unintentional injury both in and outside of the home. Topics include fire safety, helmet protection, lead poisoning and safe play. You will be surprised at which everyday items contain lead! While 1 to 3 percent of all children are born with congenital malformations that might not be preventable, many other disabilities can be prevented through good maternal and child health practices. These can be achieved by making simple changes to our everyday behavior. Light refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is $5.

Grandparents Class: Thursday, April 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Chilton Hospital, 97 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, in the Board Room. Old Methods! New Methods! There have been so many changes since your own babies were born. This class will inform new and seasoned grandparents of the current trends and help to develop a better understanding between grandparents and new parents. It will also provide an opportunity to discuss your concerns and the new ideas in childcare. This is a free class, but pre-registration is required.
