Chilton's Deborah Zastocki to Receive ‘Diva’ Nursing Award|
Chilton President and CEO Deborah K. Zastocki, DNP, RN, is one of 19 nurses in the state selected to receive the “Diva” award from the Institute for Nursing (IFN), the Foundation of the New Jersey State Nurses Association.
The IFN will honor Zastocki for making an extraordinary impact on the nursing profession and the health community at the 2012 Diva and Don Gala. It will take place on October 24 at Bally’s Casino and Resort, Atlantic City.
The purpose of the Diva and Don Gala is to raise funds for education scholarships and research grants for nursing students and nursing scholars in New Jersey. The IFN has contributed more than $500,000 in scholarships to nursing students, as a result of benefit events, such as the Diva and Don Gala.
Zastocki has been with Chilton since 1990, initially as vice president of patient care services. She has also served the hospital as senior vice president for clinical services and operations, as well as chief operating officer/chief nurse executive before her current position of president and CEO.
Under Zastocki’s direction and focus on personalized patient care, Chilton has undergone numerous enhancements including the recent $24 million modernization project. Its design promotes a warm, convenient patient experience with 65 percent private rooms for additional comfort. The hospital is currently working on renovations to The Cancer Center. Many areas of the modernization project have been completed, including The Breast Center, Cardiovascular Interventional Lab, MotherBaby Center and the Total Joint Center.
Zastocki’s leadership has brought an extensive Community Outreach program, offering more than 1,600 programs, health screenings and educational classes for the public each year.
She has also brought hyperbaric oxygen therapy, robot-assisted surgery, sleep health studies and numerous other services to Chilton. Under Zastocki’s guidance, the hospital has also accomplished various achievements including certification and designation as a Primary Stroke Center by the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services and The Joint Commission, respectively.
