Free Diabetes Management Program Available at Chilton Hospital on November 1|
November is American Diabetes Month. This annual campaign designated by the American Diabetes Association is geared toward education of the disease, which affects nearly 26 million Americans. That’s 8.3 percent of our national population. With proper management of diabetes, we can avoid many of the chronic complications which are linked to this potentially debilitating disease.
In honor of American Diabetes Month, Chilton Hospital offers “Managing Your Diabetes: 2012 Update.” It will be held on Thursday, November 1, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Chilton Health Network’s MICU Classroom, 242 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ (just 1.5 miles from the hospital).
The comprehensive, educational program will feature presentations from Chilton Endocrinologist Lucy Covello, MD; Registered Dietician Dina Hulbert, RD, CDE; and Exercise Physiologist Christine Dorenbush, MS. The event will include:
- A basic diabetes overview as well as the latest published data and new guidelines
- A discussion about diet and exercise as an important part of diabetes management
- Healthy refreshments provided by ComForcare Senior Services
“Managing Your Diabetes: 2012 Update” is a program of Chilton Hospital’s Community Outreach Department, New Vitality Division. Pre-registration is required for this free event. Please call (973) 831-5367, or click here to register.
