Dr. Ray Ryan Santos Receives Chilton Hospital’s ‘Physicians We Admire’ Award|
Ray Ryan C. Santos, M.D., M.S., is named the recipient of Chilton Hospital’s “Physicians We Admire” award.
Dr. Santos is the director of Chilton’s House Physician Program. As a house physician, he attends to all medical emergencies in the hospital and collaborates with the entire medical staff regarding patient care. Dr. Santos is also a pediatric hospitalist. A hospitalist is a physician that administers care while serving as a liaison between a patient and his or her primary care physician during an inpatient stay at the hospital.
The quarterly Physicians We Admire award was created to provide Chilton Hospital staff the opportunity to recognize physicians that embrace the organization’s five shared values on a daily basis: collaboration, ownership, excellence, compassion and innovation. The award winner is also one who leads the health care team in delivering high quality, safe, personalized patient care.
“All of our physicians play a vital role in what we do every day,” said Chilton Hospital Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Joanne Reich, RN, MA, NE-A, BC. “With this award, we celebrate and highlight one of our physicians who takes ownership in working with all staff to meet patients’ needs and who provides compassionate care each and every time to our patients and their families.”
Examples of comments in Dr. Santos’ nomination forms included:
- “Dr. Santos has a very calming way whenever there is an emergency.”
- “He takes the time to explain what is happening to the baby. He collaborates with the primary physician, as well as the neonatologist if necessary.”
