More than $600 was raised from the two-hour event. Colorforms raised $437.50 from $10 hair extensions and other donations. J. Capri Salon (formerly “Secrets”) in Pompton Plains, NJ, also had a hair extension table at the event.
Chilton Hospital kicked off its fifth annual Paint the Towns Pink weeklong event on Oct. 7 by inviting two local hair salons to help spread awareness of breast cancer.
Colorforms of Pequannock, NJ, and J. Capri Salon (formerly “Secrets”) in Pompton Plains, NJ, offered to put pink hair extensions in employees’ hair for a donation of $10. The pink hair extension is symbolic of breast cancer awareness. The event raised more than $600 in only two hours. Donors signed a printout of a pink ribbon that will be displayed in the hospital.
“We set up this event during lunchtime to get the attention of as many employees as possible,” said Director of the Chilton Hospital Foundation and Community Outreach Department Joan Beloff. “The overall enthusiasm for this cause was amazing. We even had male employees that requested pink ribbons to be painted on their heads! I’m proud to work among so many compassionate colleagues.”
Hair extension stations were set up in three buildings on Chilton’s campus, allowing visitors in the community to partake in the festivities as well: The Chilton Health Network building at 242 West Parkway, the main hospital building’s cafeteria at 97 West Parkway and at the lobby of The Breast Center, located adjacent to the main building.
