The “Gorshein Holmes Center for Radiation Therapy,” the first phase of the renovation of the Cancer Center at Chilton Hospital, celebrated its completion on Oct. 17 with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Chilton Hospital Foundation named the area in honor of Dov Gorshein, M.D., who is chair of Chilton’s Radiation Oncology Department and Steve and Bonnie Holmes and their Family Foundation. Mr. Holmes is chairman and CEO of Parsippany-based Wyndham Worldwide.
“It has been a blessing to receive this level of compassion within the community as well as from our medical personnel,” said Director of the Chilton Hospital Foundation Joan Beloff. “The name for the new radiation area was an obvious choice due to Dr. Gorshein’s dedication to provide quality care and the Holmes Family Foundation’s continuous, generous support for our patients.”
The centerpiece of the Gorshein Holmes Center for Radiation Therapy is the new linear accelerator, which precisely targets tumors with cancer-killing radiation while sparing surrounding healthy tissues. It is painless and significantly faster than conventional forms of radiation therapy. The new area also features warm décor and dedicated male and female dressing rooms for added privacy and a more comfortable patient experience.
