When a medical emergency strikes, it's not always possible to drive to the hospital. So we bring the hospital to you.
As an extension of Chilton Hospital's Emergency Department (ED), our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division operates a fleet of Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU) and a Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance as well as a CPR and EMT Training Center.
Our MICU units serve over 120 square miles throughout Morris and Passaic Counties. On-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the vehicles are dispatched through the region's centralized 9-1-1 system and staffed by state-certified mobile intensive care paramedics who've received over 1,500 hours of training in advanced life-saving interventions. Our team is fully equipped and prepared to diagnose and monitor heart conditions, provide intravenous medications, insert breathing tubes and perform other vital procedures to assist critically ill and injured patients. The paramedics are in communication with Chilton's ED physicians so treatment can begin well before patients arrive at the hospital.
Chilton also maintains an ambulance for emergencies in the Township of Pequannock and neighboring communities. This unit is operated by certified Emergency Medical Technicians who are qualified to provide basic life support while working in cooperation with paramedics and ED physicians. Additionally, the vehicle transports patients to the hospital when further evaluation or treatment is needed.
In the event of a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

Chilton also offers courses at our CPR/EMT Training Center.
CPR Training Perhaps no other aspect of emergency care saves more lives than cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Everyone should receive some level of CPR and first aid training -- from teachers, to expectant parents, to board certified physicians. With that in mind, Chilton's CPR Training Center offers a wide range of classes for both health professionals and the community. Click here to register for courses.
Accredited EMT Training The NJ State Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services has accredited Chilton as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Site. The EMT Basic program is offered three times a year. Re-certification classes and continuing education programs are also available. Click here for program information.
