When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, Ellen Bernstein of Wayne had a lot of questions she needed to ask. "The staff at Chilton Hospital was very caring," she recalled. "They showed me a lot of concern and were always ready to answer my questions."

Her husband, Dr. Stanley Bernstein, recommended that she put herself in the care of surgeon Margaret Mary Sacco, M.D., FACS, who performed a lumpectomy and prescribed follow-up radiation treatments. Dr. Dov Gorshein, M.D., was Bernstein's radiation oncologist, and she recently received some very good news. "It all went well and my most recent tests indicate that my nodes are clear," reported Bernstein. Now, she regularly gets her mammograms done at Chilton's Breast Center. "I used to go to the doctor's office for my mammograms, but my experience with Chilton was much warmer and in a much nicer environment. I was treated with respect."
Bernstein's family was so grateful for the quality care and kindness she received during her treatments that her son, Joshua, raised and donated $2,175, which represented a percentage of lunch revenues from the restaurant he owned at the time. Besides the positive experiences Bernstein has had, some of her other relatives have received healthcare at Chilton, too. "It is a very welcoming and friendly place, and I'd recommend it to anyone," she said.
