Pediatrics at Chilton Hospital

Hospitals can be a little scary for everyone. Especially kids. We know they'd rather be climbing trees or visiting friends instead of Chilton Hospital, so we try to make theirPediatric Private Room experiences as painless as possible - whether they're sick, hurt or scheduled for surgery.

Inpatient Pediatric Unit
Thanks to a recent beautification project, Chilton offers a Pediatric Unit centered around the needs of our youngest patients - and their families, too.

Facing a serious injury or illness is tough enough; children shouldn't have to bear the added stress of an uncomfortable, clinical setting. That inspired us to redesign our inpatient unit with cheerful, friendly surroundings to put their minds at ease.

The renovated unit highlights many new features, including:

  • Private rooms furnished with new beds and cribs, flat-screen televisions and wireless PlayStations
  • Sleeper beds for parents/guardians, so you never have to leave your child's side
  • A colorful playroom for patients and siblings, filled with books, movies, toys, video games and other entertaining distractions
  • A grown-up lounge for parents and visitors, offering around-the-clock coffee, Internet access and a flat-screen TV

Expert Care
At Chilton Hospital, you can trust that your child is always in expert hands. Our modernized facility is complemented by a highly skilled medical staff, including board certified pediatricians who are in the hospital 24 hours a day and pediatric subspecialists who are available whenever they're needed. Additionally, all of our nurses are certified in pediatric advanced life support and trained to care for little and big kids alike, from infants and toddlers to adolescents, teenagers and young adults.

Pediatric Play RoomImportantly, our staff members are as compassionate as they are experienced - they are there to not only administer medical care, but also to hold hands, dry tears and offer plenty of hugs.

Specialized Treatment Room
Some children need a special procedure performed during their stay. Many tests such as bloodwork and exams can be done in our Pediatric Unit's Treatment Room, allowing kids to remain in familiar surroundings rather than traveling throughout the hospital, while also keeping their hospital rooms as "safe zones" dedicated to sleeping and resting instead of poking or prodding. We do our best to keep everything comfortable and stress-free, even providing tots with door-to-door transportation in our very own "hotrod," the cherry apple red MedWagon.
