Perinatology at Chilton Hospital

Planning for your child begins well before baby is born. Chilton Hospital's Perinatology Department was built with those needs in mind, offering prenatal services to womenHigh Risk Care at Chilton experiencing both high-risk and normal pregnancies. Our board certified perinatologists, who are maternal fetal specialists, work in partnership with your obstetrician to develop a thorough evaluation and treatment plan. Whether you choose a one-time consultation, or ongoing collaboration, we're here to help ensure you experience a healthy, safe and joyful childbirth experience.

Our Perinatology suites feature two private testing rooms equipped with the most advanced diagnostic equipment. We offer a broad array of prenatal services, including:

Pre-conception & Genetic Counseling
Do twins run in the family, or maybe a genetic condition? Perhaps you have an underlying medical illness, have struggled with a past pregnancy, or are simply a little older than the average mom-to-be. If you have any circumstance that could complicate your pregnancy, due to your personal or family health history, then you may want to meet Chilton's genetic counselor.

Our genetic counselor will help you and your partner understand your risk for complications and address any concerns you might have about conception, pregnancy and delivery. She'll guide you through the assessment and testing process so you understand your options and have all the information you need to make informed decisions.

Testing
Our Perinatology Department provides comprehensive testing services for mother and baby, from first trimester screenings to full-term evaluations. We use the newest imaging technologies to view baby in the womb along with specialized blood tests to detect abnormalities. Some of the tests we perform include:

  • 4D Ultrasound Exams -- when possible, you'll see detailed, live action images of the baby's movement
  • Fetal Non-Stress Testing
  • Ultra-Screen Testing
  • Nuchal Translucency Testing
  • Biophysical Profiles

Gestational Diabetes Program
About four percent of all pregnant women experience gestational diabetes, a condition that raises blood sugar levels. While it is often temporary, it can be harmful to mother and baby if left untreated. We're here to help. Chilton's Gestational Diabetes Program assists newly diagnosed women through teaching, counseling and ongoing support. Each patient meets with a registered nurse and dietician, both certified in diabetes education, to learn how to manage the disease at home… what to eat, what to avoid, how to check blood sugar levels and tips for staying healthy.

Chilton's Perinatology Department is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about our services or to schedule an appointment, please call (973) 831-5335.
