| We're seeing things in a whole new light. Thanks to recent investments in diagnostic imaging, radiologists at Chilton Hospital can peer into the human body with remarkable clarity, precision and detail - viewing everything from tiny arteries in the brain to microscopic tumors. And that has made a world of difference in patient care, as earlier detection leads to faster treatment and better outcomes for those facing cancer, stroke and other diseases.
An important stop along the road to recovery, Chilton Imaging performs about 90,000 imaging studies each year, including a growing array of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services.

Equally impressive is our patient-focused approach to care, which pairs best practices with optimal comfort and convenience. Our Imaging center was recently re-designed with your needs in mind, featuring the dedicated East Entrance, with private registration areas and reserved parking. Outpatients can now proceed directly to imaging services without traveling through the rest of the hospital - a huge benefit when you're nursing a painful injury or have a toddler in tow. Also, with the addition of digital X-ray and other technological advancements, the department is more efficient than ever before. Exams are substantially faster, which means less waiting and shorter appointments. And we've expanded our hours to accommodate busier schedules, offering some testing on evenings and Saturdays.
Furthermore, nothing outshines Chilton's commitment to medical excellence. The hospital has earned full accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in the areas of Computer Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Ultrasound and Breast Imaging. These awards symbolize the industry's highest standards - and the outstanding reputation of Chilton's Imaging program.

What Does It Mean for Chilton to be Accredited by the ACR? The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. All findings are reported to the practice via a comprehensive report that includes recommendations for improvement.
The ACR accredits facilities in: Breast ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound, and radiation oncology.
When you choose an ACR-accredited facility, you know:
- Your hospital, clinic or health center has voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be sure it meets nationally-accepted standards
- The personnel are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform and interpret your medical images and administer your radiation therapy treatments
- The equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment you will receive, and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines
