Some newborns need a little extra care, whether they were born prematurely or with conditions requiring advanced monitoring or support. Should that be the case, you can feel confident that Chilton Hospital's Special Care Nursery is fully equipped and prepared to deliver.
Chilton's Level II nursery is approved by the State of New Jersey to care for up to four infants with a gestational age of at least 32 weeks, including babies with infections, respiratory issues or other medical complications. Staffed by board certified neonatologists from Atlantic Maternal-Fetal Medicine, in-house pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists and highly trained nurses, our nursery couples expertise and state-of-the-art technology with tender, personalized care, assuring your newborn will receive the best possible neonatal treatment.
Parents are always welcome in the Special Care Nursery. In fact, all moms are offered a one-on-one visit from our Special Care Nursery Ambassador, who will gladly extend a warm smile and compassionate heart, along with a "welcome basket" filled with hand-knit booties, a piggy bank and other newborn gifts and information.
The nursery is located within Chilton's Mother Baby Center – right down the hall from our postpartum suites – so new moms are never more than a few steps away. Should they be confined to bed, or discharged early, moms and dads can arrange a "virtual visit" through our secured Nursery Webcam. Available only through a private password and parental consent, this unique service offers peace of mind to parents whose babies need to stay in the hospital a little longer than expected.
